Import of Meta Data

Hi,



I have several thousand scanned images of an old drawing library, I also have a text file indx containing the Meta Data for these drawings. Importing the files is easy but setting the Meta Data associated with each file is likely to be a nightmare. Has any out there had experience of automating the import of meta data. If so what tools did you use to do it?
