I am working in 125 MW Diesel Powered IPP connected to 132 KV grid through 3 transformers of 63 MVA each indepedently connected to 3 engines each at each transformer and exporting to common bus .

when dispatches are low ,i am registering import bill as other transformer are not closed.When i close transfomer to avoid losses high inrush is affecting transformer.How to avoid import billing.I feel practice of frequent switching off and cannot be recommended.Can someone give a solution

I am detecting that you may or may not be in the US, so the answer maybe different depending on where you are at.

A company I worked for had interconnections with wind farms, and we did charge them for power when they were not generating. It's a cost of doing business. You buy power from the utility you are connected to when you are not generating, because it is cheaper than running your generation to serve only your station power.

My answer is look at the alternitives, and do the math, to find out which really is cheaper.
 
Yes you are correct ,Plant is in Pakistan Karachi.Plant lean months are nov to march where load is less and transformer no load losses are coming as import.Could you advise
