Hi All,

Is it possible to import drafting views from other parts in NX.

Thanks,
basenxuser

The best you can do is make a screen shot of this view from an other part and insert in drafting as image (Insert - image...)

Best regards,

Michaël.

When you say a 'Drafting View' are we talking about something with dimensions and annotation, perhaps even a section view from an existing Drawing onto the face of a totally different part file's Drawing?

If so, the easiest approach would be to do a 'Copy & Paste' of the view of interest from one Drawing sheet to the other. I just tried this using NX 8.5 and it worked pretty well.

John,

I am talking about from one part to another part.

Thanks

Have you tried doing the 'Copy & Paste' that I suggested? As I said, I've tested this and it seems to work for what you're trying to do.

Open your part withthe views that you would like to export. File>Export>Part
choose existing, select the part you would like to export the sheets to. select "drawing selection" and choose the sheets that have your views that you would like to export.

CaptainCAD88,

CaptainCAD88,

I tryed to follow your direction, but importing bring just a drawing sheet, not the views!

You cant import a sheet from a paret file but you can export a sheet to a part file, that is why you need to open the part with the views that you need and export the sheet from that file to your working file.

Just went through this the other day. Below are some steps recommended to me by GTAC.
Have both drawings loaded.
Open drawing A and create a CGM file of what you want in drawing B. We hide everything except for what we wanted.
Open drawing B and create a blank view.
Now import the CGM file into this view. This geometry is not associative to anything.
Took us a few stabs but we did get it to work.
