hi everyone,

i have a question regarding impact testing requirment using ASME VIII DIV 1; when we say impact testing is required, does it mean it is required for the whole vessel components? i know in UCS 66 CURVES we need MDMT and thickness to see if Impact test is required or not; but is that based on the shell and head only or all vessel companents (nozzle neck, boot, flange etc)?

I am certain I will be corrected but when we are told that impact testing is required on a vessel we quote it as every part includng flanges, heads, welding procedures etc are all impact tested to the same value and temp. I does not make sense to impact test one part only.

each part is individually checked for thickness vs temperature
