Impact test requirment of SA334 Gr.6 1

Dear All,

When tube material is as belows, is this materail required impact test?

SA334 Gr.6==> O.D 25.4mm * Thick 2.769mm
SA334 Gr.6==> O.D 31.8mm * Thick 2.769mm

If required the impact test, Please let me know how to get the sub size of specimen.

Could you please provide more detail as to the application of these tubes? IS this for a heat exchanger, boiler, pressure vessel?
 
Hi Teran, Impact test not only depends on the material, but also depends on the operating conditions like temperature. Pls provide more details.

teran, grade 6 is CS tubing and is impact tested per the specification, and probably at -50 deg. F.

SA-334 Section 12.1 does not require impact testing of welded Grade 6 below 3 mm thick. Section 14.1 requires impact testing down to 2.5 mm thickness for seamless Grade 6. The impact test temperature is -50 F; no temp reduction is required. The above assumes that no thicker tube is available from the heat; in that case, please review 13.7.
