Hi,
we have the license for the render tool.
Sincerly I find the render tool integrated into NX slow, not ease of use and quality of other tool present in other CAD software.
Then we have decided to try KeyShot and if I compare KeyShot to the rendering inside NX, I can say that NX's rendering tools don't have the speed, ease of use and quality that KeyShot offers.

I read that Dassault Systèmes to Acquire Realtime Technology AG (RTT) so.....when Siemens will acquire a competitive render tool :-) ?
I tested NX9 real time render, but it's slow compared to KeyShot and setting / editing isn't so easy, intuitive like in KayShot.
Make render animation in NX is again a nightmare.

Thank you...

Over the next couple of releases there is a fair amount of work being planned to improve the rendering functionality in NX. As for the new 'Realtime' tool added in NX 9.0, this is one of those cases where hardware really wins out. The better your graphics card, the more memory that you have and the number of processors (cores) all have a big impact. For example, my new laptop went from a 32 'pipe' to a 512 'pipe' graphics card, 8Gb to 16Gb memory and from 4 to 8 cores, and the realtime rendering performance improved a couple of orders of magnitude. Prior to the changeover I avoided demoing this new feature unless specifically asked, now I'm willing to show it to anyone whether they ask or not ;-)

Keyshot is actually considered a low-end renderer, although user friendly for those who just want to "click and shoot". My dream scenario would be a Vray plugin for NX to make ultra-photorealistic renderings. It has extremely customizeable materials and the GI lighting + reflections are second to none (except for Maxwell, which is a non-biased renderer). Anyway, I hope that the development of the NX rendering capability will tilt towards realism and customization as opposed to a dumbed down point-and-shoot renderer.

John,
it's clear that Siemens is planning and developping the NX rendering tool, that we see starting from NX8, but it's far to the actual rendering tools present in the market, starting to the low-end renderer.
We customer need and easy of use/setting/editing and the performance present in NX9 aren't comparing to others render tools.
Starting NX9, the render tool use all the power present in the workstation, but is far to the others.
Others has started this, some years ago and now they use the computer present in the LAN.
Anyway, I hope that Siemens will do better then now.

Thank you...
