I know shunt trip using the magnetic field of an energized coil to trip circuit breaker. But how do I know the minimum current through the coil which would have strong enough magentic field to trip a 20 amps CB?

Thank you! I am new to this place. Hope can get your help!

From "The Shunt Trip provides remote controlled tripping of the circuit breaker. The shunt trip consists of an intermittent rated solenoid with a tripping plunger and a cutoff switch assembled to a plug-in module."

Thank you, Busbar!

Does this mean shunt trip rating has nothing to do with circuit breaker rating? It actually trip CB by mechanical means?

Yes the shunt trip generally requires a separate source of control power. You need to specify the operating voltage when you buy the shunt trip.
