I am trying to learn how to size pumps, I wish to verify if a Goulds Model VIC-L 1500GPM, 145TDH, 60HP can pump crude oil. I dont have specific data for pour point of crude but I intend to assume viscosity of say 783 ssu. My intention is to use an example to learn how to size and select pumps. If anyone knows any good books, resources etc that would also be very helpful

Once you've grasped the ideas, on the Goulds page linked above there is a tabe labelled 'PSS on the web', which should take you to the on line sizing program.
