There are two plates (Mg alloy+A380) that are connected by RTV silicone. I need to dissolve the gasket in order to measure the weight loss of the plates.

One solvent I've used on vulcanized silicones is Cyclohexane. I just let the material sit in the solvent and the silicone is broken up into very small particles.
Cyclohexane is very flammable and has a low boiling point.

Silicone manufacturing equipment is cleaned with hot
toluene. This is for a closed system.

Since most of our employers will not allow us to keep cyclic HCs around anymore this is tough.
Whatever you use you will end up having to do some mechanical cleaning to get the residue off.

Neither should your protection

Unfortunately there is no access point to do any mechanical disjoin. I need some safe solvent to do this.
