I use excel's hyperlink function to keep projects organized and to make access to files a one-click affair. The problem is that when a hyperlink is activated, the destination software opens and the file displays but the active workbook where the hyperlink originates closes. Excel does not close, only the workbook. Is there a setting to change this? I've seached through the help but was unable to find anything that may affect this change.
Thanks in advance.

If you have web toolbar enabled you can get back where you came from using the back button. I'm not sure if this helps you.

My excel workbook does not close this way. Try on a different computer.

Ciao.

I have spreadsheets that work both ways.

One spreadsheet has many links created 3 years ago - it doesn't close the parent spreadhseet when you click a link.

One spreadsheet has only one link created a few months ago, it does close the parent spreadsheet when you click a link.

I don't know whether the relevant factor is number of links or version of excel in which the file was created or some other factor.
