Hi,

A Hyperfoam material model was used for compression test on a 50x50x50 mm block. The compression test data (FS curve) was overlaid on the CAE data. It doesnt correlate in the initial portion as shown in below picture. Hyperfoam material in general has uniaxial test data(compression and tensile), Simple shear test data(Nominal Stress, Nominal Strain). As I understand shear test data predicts when it fails. I think compression test data needs to be fine tuned somehow. What can be done to the Hyperfoam material card, to make it match with test data?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apart from standard tips for material calibration (like using single element test) mentioned in our previous discussions on this forum I can add that in case of hyperfoam you should perform calibration for dominant mode of deformation (typically uniaxial compression). What's more keep in mind that these materials are highly compressible (Poisson's ratio often assumed as 0). Also take a look at the "Fitting of elastomeric foam test data" chapter of Abaqus documentation.
