Hi All,

when designing a P.V. through compress, the (shop)Hydrotest Pressure should be 1.3 times MAWP or MAP or DP?

appreciate your help

Thanks

EITHER OF THE THREE CHOICES.

ASME says 1.3 X mawp Which could be design pressure if no calcs are done to establish MAWP

Come user specs say 1.3 X map and UG-99(c) allows for that.

So you have some reading to do and decisions to make.

Appreciate your help. I m going to

This decision must be made by the designer. COMPRESS provides options for all three types of hydrostatic test basis but the designer must review the purchaser's specification and other contract requirements to determine if the test basis is specified by contract. If it is not, then the designer must use their own judgment to determine the test basis.
