Hydrotest Allowable - reg.,

Hi All,
As per PV Elite attachment, Allowable stress due to hydrotest will be 90% yield or as per (asme sec viii div 1) 1.3 times of ambient allowable stress. Can anyone tell the exact location of that point on div 1.???

The 90% of yield does NOT exist anywhere in Division 1. We have had this discussion several times here on eng-tips. As XL83NL points out, the other limit that you refer to is the normal hydrostatic test pressure; only that's not three entire picture. Please refer to the paragraph that they pointed you to.

Probably need to get better acquainted with ASME VII Div-1 requirements. Using COMPRESS or PV ELITE will not make you a pressure vessel engineer.
