Hi,

I'm currently looking at undertaking a hydrostatic pressure test on a petrochemical site, but as part of the risk assessment process have been asked to provide a safe exclusion distance from the test pipework while under pressure.

Does anyone know of any calculations to best determine this distance? I'm ideally looking for a reference to an official source / standard in this field (something I have not been able to track down myself).

Could you please help?

You can find an equation for this if you search this site. I have not seen the basis used for calculating this distance though. As to code references, I don't have one for you.
