I've seen a number of products coming out that are nano-particle based super-hydrophobic spray coatings. The companies themselves seem to have no information other than an MSDS documenting heath risks. Unfortunately, the MSDS lists the product as "generally regarded as safe" based on the chemical nature without regard to any potential dangers nano-sized particles may have. Does anyone here know of any literature, references or studies on the use of these coatings with respect to potential health effects? Thanks!

Just use epoxy resin. It repels water, sticks very tightly to most surfaces, is invisible when thin enough, and if cured properly, is FDA safe so you can use it in food containers.

The superhydrophobic coatings I have seen all have pretty poor durability.
