HOW TO SIZE WING ELEVONS

Hi ya All,
Just wondering if anyone has come across any formula that enables you to size elevons or rudder appropraitely.Also, could any one help with formula to estimate landing field and range for space vehicle?. I wold be very grateful.

just the usual stuff ... Torenbeek "Synthesis of Subsonic Airplane Design", Ramyer "Airplane Design, a Conceptual approach" ... tho' a word of caution, i think you're dsigning something a bit more exotic than a "subsonic" airplane, maybe something more like a shuttle (or a "gliding brick").

field length equation would be the same as any plane; dependent on approach speed (pretty darned high in your case, ask NASA about the shuttle), landing weight, drag devices, and brakes ...

range ? ... in the tradtional sense the range of a spacecraft is possibly millions of miles, counting its orbits ... but i suspect that's not what you mean
