Hi to all,

I'm having a problem with a SAP model. We have a steel beam system to analye, in our office, from a project of another company.

The problem is, that i would like do connect two HE700A with two IPE 200. These HE700A have a 25m span and dist from each other 5.00m. The IPE 200 should conect both HE700A, one at the top flange and one at the bottom flange.

The main issue is precisely here. How do i model this in SAP 2000?

I uploaded an image that ilustrates what i have just said. Everthing is modelled with the exception of the red one.

Thank you
BT

I think that this might be accomplished with a couple of constraints applied at the elements end nodes. You could model all steel beams like frames at their centroid level and then simply connect the joints with some constraints (check the manual for which one to use). Another option is to model the HEA700 with shell elements.

However, what is the purpose of the model exactly? Why do you need to explicitly model everything in your structure?
