Hello.
I am simulating friction stir welding with Abaqus dynamic explicit and CEL technique. I have taken tool as rigid body and uniform mesh size of 2mm. Stable time increment is coming out to be 1.7 *e-7 and total time for simulation is 120s. I have tried mass scaling but due to ridid body of too, it doesn't apply. So, you might get that my computation time is quite high. Please guide me through the problem or where i am making mistake. Here i have attached my model.

Try to reduce the mesh density. Usually, mass scaling is the way to go but you could also speed up the process artificially by reducing the step time (in this case it’s quite big for explicit analysis).

Do you think that reducing the mesh size after 2mm will help as accuracy is also a matter of fact. If I reduce step time then my speed and workpiece dimension will also need to change and will ruin the model. Can I use any other method like other than explicit to make the process faster.(I am new to Abaqus). Also if you could help me to apply mass scaling here.
