How to enter an Assembly into Teamcenter

I'd like to start off by saying that I am not seeing a category for TCe on the Home page so that's why I'm asking on the NX category. So the questions are:

1) Can I enter in an Assembly into Teamcenter?

2) Do I have to enter in all the components separately?

3) Will it generate new part numbers?

Welcome to this forum.

The Teamcenter forum has been combined with "Engineering Project Management, general discussion". Most probably due to the fact that there was very little activity.
To answer your questions;

1) Your question is a bit unclear.
if you mean

a) starting from NX?​

Yes this is possible. You just build your assembly and it will be saved as such in Teamcenter (in a BVR).​

b) Starting from Teamcenter
Also possible, but there you have to have an item where you can add an BVR (Bom View revision). In this BVR you copy and paste existing components (items) which you want to have in your assembly.​

2) If by this you mean you want to import from your local disk into the Teamcenter Database
No.
NX Managed(connected to Teamcenter) has a utility to import Assemblies (or single parts) into Teamcenter. "File - Import assembly into Teamcenter"
This Utility takes care of all your components.

3) When you use above mentioned utility you can decide. There are 3 options

a) User number - here you have to give an ID for each component during the actual import (if your Teamcenter environment allows for this)
b) AutoGenerate - Teamcenter gives an ID based on the Teamcenter Naming Rules
c) AutoTranslate - Teamcenter gives an ID based upon the component names as they are stored on the local drive (Source)​

Thank you NutAce. I have tried the "Import Assembly into Teamcenter" option but I do not know how to use it. I've attached a screenshot of the dialog box. Any help would be nice. I cannot find a good step by step tutorial online as to how to use it. Please let me know.

I have a related question: I have imported items into Teamcenter from native NX, but I have never done a larger import.
I have a large directory (over 20 assemblies, over 2200 NX files, with many common parts) to import from native NX to Teamcenter. I understand the basic process, but how can this be done while keeping all of the relationships between parts/assemblies/drawings? Let me know if I need guided to another forum.

@Suskam if you import using NX, and the "Import Assembly Into Teamcenter" function, you should be able to bring in the assembly, and any other related NX data, ie drawings. Just select the top level assembly, and check, the settings, so that it brings everything along. I do it all the time for large assemblies, but without the drawings, but I have seen the settings for that.
