How to do prestress structural analysis in workbench 1

Hi,

I'm sure the answer for this lies in a clever APDL script, thanks to the repackaged limitations of Workbench v12.1, but...

...in brief I would like to pre-stress a model with applied loads then in a second model activate a contact to mimick an adhesive between two parts that is being held in position.

Then, hopefully, I can use this prestressed model with the new contact(s) for further load analyses.

On paper the parts are all within elastic limits yet Workbench seems to only offer something like this capability for prestressed modal anslyses...


(ps. does anyone know if they improved/inlcuded the export of deformed geometry from Workbench in v12.1?)

I think that might work.

The example is on the same model so they will have the same connections - at least in workbench. But it looks like you can read/write an IST file using this command. So I'll try that or write another command script to activate a connection in the second solution.
