How to: Create Custom Function Keys
1. Open a project with MicroStation.
2. Go to ‘Workspace>Button Assignments’.
3. Click ‘File’ and select ‘Save As’.
4. Browse to your ‘P:\’ drive and create a new folder called ‘MicroStation Settings’.
5. In the ‘File name’ field type ‘mousekeys.btnmenu’ then click ‘Save’.
6. Now click ‘File’ and select ‘Open’.
7. Choose the ‘mousekeys.btnmenu’ file you just created and click ‘Open’.
8. The ‘Function Keys’ menu title should look like this:
9. You can use any ‘Key-in’ for the keys. In the example below Shift+Data will rotate the ACS.
10. When you have finished editing the keys click ‘File’ and select ‘Save’.
11. Click ‘OK’ to finish.
12. Back in the MicroStation main window go to ‘Workspace>Configuration’.
13. In the ‘View/Modify all configuration variables’ field find and click ‘MS_BUTTONMENU’ then click ‘Edit’.
14. The ‘Edit Configuration Variable’ window appears. In the ‘New Value’ field erase the contents and type ‘P:\Microstation Settings\mousekeys.btnmenu’ then click ‘OK’.
15. Click ‘OK’ and finally ‘Yes’ to save the change.
16. Microstation will now remember your personal Mouse Button settings.
