Hi,
I have calculated the amount of H2 Leak from H2 exchanger and would like to suggest SIL for this service.
The amount of gas leak is 10000lb/hr.
Could you please advice me how to corelate this leak for SIL suggestion to mitigate the problem and avoide from major accident.
Thanks

SILs are not absolute numbers that apply in all situations. If you are a hydrogen extraction or production facility, not enclosed or very well ventilated, 10 000 lb/hr might be OK, since it might be a leak of less than 1% of process, and tends to "leak" straight up and not accumulate. If the flow rate is 100 000 lb/hr, and you are enclosed, this could be very signficant, and you risk blowing the place up, have materials issues with hydrogenation of elastomers and liquids, and possible asphyxiation issues. You have to consider the "system", the possible impacts, etc., to determine the SIL.
