Span : 60 + 80(m)
Width : 2Lane + 1 foot

Things to do : 1. Demensioning steel thickness.
2. Calculating Steel Quantity.

And a very, very long time if you've never done it before.

TBD - I would add that you must know what you're looking for in the software results to ensure the preliminary is conservative and can be refined.

No one likes to have increases in steel quantities especially now that steel prices are through the roof.

It certainly helps when you know of bridges with similar spans and widths. Having that information in hand along with experience in doing this several times makes this exercise fairly easy. For preliminary analysis, we've typically added 10% of the box girder weight to account for steel details.

A variable unstated is depth of box girder. The deeper, the less flange steel required. Use L/30 for first analysis.
