What new language are you hoping for that UGS hasn't announced? GRIP is basically dead, I think we will agree with that part. UG/Open API has been enhanced since V18 to include the CAM functionality that everyone used GRIP for. Since I am not a current user, I don't know how completet the toolkit is, but I understand it covers CAM pretty well. The new journalling will take some time to figure out waht it can really do. My first thoughts are that it merly replaces the macro (recorded keystrokes) repetitive operation functionality. Maybe some one can explain if it is really a programming language.
Changes in technology happen. If you choose to sit on a version forever (or a few years) then you will see productivity drop as you cannot take advantage of newer technology that may do an old function in 1/2 or less of the time. It is a never ending circle that you can run with or get caught out of and try to get back in at a later date.
