Hello,

I have a casting which I would like to have rated to a 600 pressure class. The material is ASTM A487 type CA6NM. I am running a FEA and need to input temperature and pressures to meet 600 pressure class requirements. What temperatures and pressures do I use?

My confusion is that I can't seem to find ASTM A487 in any of the tables in ASME B16.5. I know actual pressure change for each material. Should I just pick the highest values (1500 psig @ -20 to 100F, 1330 psig @ 500F)?

FYI - I want to run the FEA at the temperatures above as this is the operating temperature range of the casting.

Thanks,
Ben

If you are interested in pressure-temperature rating methods, I would highly recommend you read Annex B of ASME 16.5-2003.

Thanks for the advice - I've got my working pressure now.
