I need help in opening a Pro/E file which is in 2001 format in Pro/E 2000i. Please provide help.

sorry, but you're out of luck. no backwards compatibility in Pro/E.

As a work around, you can export as IGES from 2001, then import the IGES into 2000i2. The part will then be usable in 2000i2, but of course you can't modify it.

Good luck.....

To open the pro/E models in lower version that are modelled in higher version.

In the higer version (Pro/E 2001)

* group all the features except default datum planes.

* create a UDF using the group (see that basic prompts is only for the default datum planes).

In the lower version (Pro/E 2000i2).

*create a new file (required part file).

*create a dummy UDF.

*copy the header of this UDF file into the higher UDF file (Pro/E 2001 UDF), in notepad / any other text editor.

*place the edited UDF in the current lower version part (it will be placed as a group).

*ungroup it.

Now we have the higer version file in the lower version. It works well for the *.prt files. We are just fooling the software by copying the header!!
