Dear All,

What should be the hot rolled sheet material to be used for cold forming and suitable to Hot dip galvanising
?

Please tell me the ASME/ASTM code reference .

Ratheesh_n,
you would be better off using cold rolled, close annealed sheet ,it requires less cleaning.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

That is sheet that is already Galvanized , the OP was asking about material that can be Galvanized.

he didn't say he wanted to form it then galvanize, he said form and galvanize.

If galvanized before forming then A653

If galvanized after forming then A1011

Thanks all.

I needed A 1011.

first need to be formed and then hot dip galvanised

Can any one tell how much will be the Silicon % in the material ?

As there is no requirement in code , we need to know about % of Silicon because it affects coating thickness and appearence of galvanising .

Can anyone share a sample TC ..??

That is not entirely correct. If you review ASME SA 1011, the silicon content is not specified but is required to be reported by analysis. When you purchase material you can use a purchase specification, developed by you, to require a minimum silicon content.
