hi all,
I tried to use API code while designing my tube.
By modeling a simple beam to check the design result, I found out that value Fhc in hoop buckling check is a little bit weird.
The value of Fhc I calculated according to API Eq. 3.2.5-4~6 is half of the value of SAP2000.
I think it would be unreasonable because the value of SAP2000 has already exceeded Fy value which in my case Fy = 317158.
Fhe calculated by hand = 239308
Fhe stress by SAP2000 = 246138
which are approx. the same.
Fhc calculated by hand = 185797,
Fhc/Safety factor = 185797 / 2
Fhc capacity by SAP2000 = 374052
There's 4 times difference in Fhc capacity.
I believe I misunderstood something.
