what are you trying to model, how are you intending to model it, and what are you wanting from the model?

Hello,
thanks for the answer.
I d like to make a simple sandwich plate, then make a load case that i can compare with the analytic model. (navier-plate, global buckling).
My present model seems to work. (Face: 2d shell elements, 2d Orthotropic, core: 3d elements, 3d orthotropic.)
But I don`t know if the results are realistic.
I think I can do the rest alone, but thanks for the offer to help.

Normally, a sandwich panel can be modeled two ways:

1) Represent the face sheets and core as a composite, where the core is simply a "thick" lamina ply.

2) Model the core as a solid (usually, HEX8 elements).

With regards to point 1). Would you use shells? If you have solid geometry how would you extract the shells from the solid geometry?
