Hole Wizard 1

So, anyway to create a new location for the hole wizard/toolbox items? I can go in and configure, but since we configured on our standalone machines it is not useful for consistent use among our group. I'd like to put everything on a network drive. If you browse to a new folder it just says there is nothing there. How can I get something in a new folder it would recognize?

From what I recall looking at help it mentions some sort of reinstallation and changing the location of the files then. That did not seem to work for me. I can keep trying, but I was looking for a simpler method.

From the help files:
Identify the computer that has used SolidWorks Toolbox most extensively.

Move the entire SolidWorks Toolbox parts directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Data) from the user's computer to a shared location.

It is recommended that the shared location be on a Windows-based computer that does not run the SolidWorks software. The location is typically a server.

Right-click the shared SolidWorks Toolbox folder, select Properties, Sharing tab, and set to Share this folder.

Right-click the browser folder, and in Properties, General tab, set the browser folder and its subfolders to Read-only.

In SolidWorks, click Toolbox, Configure.

On the Settings tab, select, Create Configurations.

A configuration is added to a master part file each time someone uses a new size of a particular fastener.

Always change Read-only status of documents before writing. SolidWorks Toolbox temporarily overwrites the read-only attribute of a file to make a change. An example of a change is the creation of a new configuration for a different size fastener. After a change is done, SolidWorks Toolbox resets the file attribute to Read-only. This option allows multiple users to make changes to the same document because write access occurs briefly during the change. Documents that are Read-only because of user rights or security settings in your operating system are not affected.

Set other options for Content, Settings, Properties, and Smart Fasteners as needed.

Click Close.

You can add an existing SolidWorks Toolbox user to an existing shared environment.

Users who migrate to the shared environment might have assembly documents that reference local versions of the SolidWorks Toolbox parts. Potential issues include:

A user's local SolidWorks Toolbox parts might contain part configurations that do not exist in the shared environment.

A user might have assigned part numbers and descriptions to local SolidWorks Toolbox parts that are different from the shared parts.

To add an existing user to a shared environment:

Make sure the existing seats in the shared environment and the seat that is migrating to the shared environment have the same SolidWorks and SolidWorks Toolbox versions.

Click Options (Standard toolbar), HoleWizard/Toolbox, and browse to c:\solidworks data\ which is the shared SolidWorks Toolbox folder.

The user then opens assembly documents that reference local SolidWorks Toolbox parts and the software looks for the parts. To ensure that the SolidWorks Toolbox parts are loaded from the shared location, the user can either browse for each part or have the SolidWorks software search for external references.

To browse for each part:

Rename the local SolidWorks Toolbox parts folder.

Open each assembly document, browse to the shared location, and open the SolidWorks Toolbox parts.

To have the software search for external references:

Rename the local SolidWorks Toolbox parts folder.

In the SolidWorks software, click Options (Standard toolbar) or Tools, Options.

Select External References, then select Search file locations for external references.

On the System Options tab, select File Locations.

Select Referenced Documents in Show folders for, click Add, then browse to the shared location of the SolidWorks Toolbox parts.

Open and save each assembly document that used local referenced parts.

Clear the Search file locations for external references option and delete the local SolidWorks Toolbox parts folder after you have updated all assembly documents.

All the other stuff is well and good, but we've not used the toolbox quite yet, just have put parts in the library and made custom parts, but I'm considering using the toolbox.

But to the main point, I've copied the entire directory to a network drive, but when I go into the options and "browse" to the copied folder and it gives me this error:
Error: Could not find the Standards database 'X:\directory...'

And it can't update.
