Hole on a curved surface problem

this downloads ok and shows what's in the zip folder but copying gives unexpected error.
 
There may be other ways of doing it but this looks like what you want; note that all features in the main part were suppressed to keep the zip file <2Mb

However I would still like to know how you went about producing this ( step by step please )but because ball-ass.asm is red with errors ( I am guessing because of the suppresand there is no option to un-suppress despite this being in the dir?? ) I cant properly see any clues .


Did you create a plane with a point on it and pattern this ?????


How/where did you get the line /edge for the spiral trajectory ????

***you need to open the first part and resume all the features

***the point in the ball was assembled to the first point on the VSS and then patterned by reference

***this is a simple VSS surface using one edge of the slot as the origin, the surface was hidden after use.

Many thanks for your help and most of all your patience and understanding in this .

I have managed to complete the other two rows and have had chance now to break down the stages to see how you achieved the end product . Some I followed , some I will have to sit and play around with , but hey that
 
You can construct the trajectory as the cross-section of 2
surfaces:
1 - the top surface of the rib(s)
2 - a variable section sweep - surface type - following the
middle of the top surface of one rib.

When you have the trajectory, you can use a variable
section sweep. In the sketch you can relate the position of
the circular cross section to the trajectory.
