HOLE CALLOUTS: THRU ALL MUST BE ELIMINATED (for me anyway) 2

I need to eliminate the "all" word from all of my hole callouts. Can someone give me a guide as to how to change it permanently from my machine? I know I've done it before by changeing the callout text file, but now I try and cant find where it throws in the ALL text.

This was an annoyance for me as well. At the 2010 rollout I learned that if you select "Up to next" the wizard hole callout shows "THRU" instead of "THRU ALL".

Yes, you can get rid of it through a holecallout format file. But it does not make any sense to eliminate it as you have a choice not to use it.

I've talked to SolidWorks about this recently and told them that THRU ALL isn't part of ASME and shouldn't be included. I also mentioned that THRU is only used sometimes. They haven't done any serious development on Hole Callouts in years, so I don't know how long it will be before they are fixing that old mess of a file.

rgrayclamps, thanks for the affirmation that I can change it the way that I think I should be able to. Could you give me the info I need to change it. I seem to have run into a wall doing that way. I opened the text file in notepad and did a find on "all". I went thru the whole text file, and it didnt come up with anything that said THRU ALL that I would have expected to change to fix my issue.
any englightenment would be appreciated on this.

When setting the depth conditions of your Hole Wizard hole the following happens:
Selecting "Up to next" yields "THRU" on the drawing note.
Selecting "Thru all" yields "THRU ALL" on the drawing note.

This really isn't complicated and doesn't require searches and replaces, simply learning a subtlety of the Hole Wizard.

I'm with you. I never use "THRU ALL". It's always either "THRU" or "THRU ONE WALL". To get rid of the "ALL" you need to replace "<hw-thru>" with "THRU".

Just as the depth of a Hole Wizard hole is editable, so is its nature. Since I learned this little subtlety I have been changing the part's hole depths to "Up to next" whenever I see the aggravating THRU ALL on its drawing. It is still better (and easy) to change this at its source than to edit the note on the drawing.
