Hi you all,

I am evaluating the effect of hoisting heavy products starting at low speed and starting at fast speed with overhead cranes. The proper way is to start slow hoisting the product and go to fast.
As we know our crane drivers anything needs to go fast and faster.

The discussion is: what will be the effect of starting hoisting fast at 90%-100% of the WLL. Are there regulations or rules I can refer to.
Do we need to have restrictions to hoisting speeds. The hoist will automatically shut down at 110% of the WLL, which gives me an odd feeling.

The hoist has been evaluated by the manufacturer and doesnot have any problems with hoisting fast. For the bridge there is no reference to any hoisting speeds and I cannot go to the manufacturer. The construction of the bridges has been done in 1980's. The structural runway has no reference to hoisting speed.
Also new bridge there is no reference to hoisting speeds. The new bridges have been calculated according to Euro Code.

Do I need to investigate or recalculate the structure and the bridge. Anyone some experience with older overhead cranes?

If someone has any refenrence documents for me I it would be very helpfull. Thanks in advance.
