Has anyone ever come up with a (overall) spreadsheet (or whatever) showing the historical building code adoptions date(s) by state? (I.e. State X adopted UBC 97 in year [X], IBC 2000 in year [Y], and so on.)

Answer can be obtained by email to each state department of building.

@WARose....I have it for Florida. Will post when I get to my desktop. Prior to the adoption of a state building code in Florida, we used the Standard Building Code. It was up to each municipality or jurisdiction to adopt the code, some version of the code or create their own. Some of the larger cities had their own building code, basically pirated from the old Southern Standard Building Code. Other jurisdictions would adopt a version of the code and let it hold for years before the adoption of a newer version.

In Florida, we are always behind in producing the next version of the state building code which is based on the last produced IBC.

I have it for Ontario, Canada... often referenced it for forensic reports. Up to date until about a decade ago... matter of finding it.

Thanks guys. Don't need it for the states mentioned. But a few projects I have coming up (out of state) have me wondering on this topic......so I was looking to see if anyone had ever put together a master list.

I've specifically looked and not found it yet. I can give you MA dates, initial adoption and each of the 9 editions. If you do come up with a national one, keep me in mind. I believe Retired and Ron are correct: You will probably have to go state by state
