Hilti Kwik-Con

I want to use some Hilti Kwik-Cons for a tension load in a 4" total thickness composite interior slab ( 1 1/2" deck). Hilti's catalog gives ASD pull-out values for 1 3/4" embedment but does not specify a minimum concrete thickness. I also find that their is no ESR report for this product. Just want to make sure I can use these fasteners and not have someone question it later.

The thickness of the concrete doesn't matter - as long as it's thicker than the embedment depth of the screw - I know, I'm being a wise guy .

A screw in concrete is somewhere between an undercut anchor and an adhesive anchor. There's a shallow cone failure then a shear failure. Hilit's web site indicates there is a testing report for Miami/Dade County.

Yup, it says it has Miami/Dade Testing and approvals but no link to a report.

Found a testing report for Miami. The values are less than Hilti's published values. I guess my question still remains - is it ok to use these?

I couldn't find the report either. You have three choices:

1. Contact Hilti for guidance
2. Use the Miami/Dade values
3. Use a different product

I understand your point. Sometime when I see old buildings in NYC with fire escapes I wonder what's holding them up. The NYC building code from the 19th C and most of the 20th C simply says provide a safe connection or something to that effect.
