Looking for a source/specification for high strength stainless steel anchor rod material (1" dia or larger) to be used with a heavy hex nut threaded on the embedded end. Corrosion resistance similar to 316L.

Any suggestions for a spec'd material and/or source.

What material did you use in coming up with the 1" dia. call out?.
What is the standard you are working to?

Come back with a few more details of your requirements as to strenght, corrosion resistance, etc.

Depending on your strength requirements you could use 316 class 2 (strain hardened) material. I have recently seen 2205 used for anchor rods.

I would contact Portland bolt with your specific requirements.

from my notes:

STAINLESS STEEL

ANCHOR RODS SHALL CONFORM AISI 430 AND ASTM A276 HAVING A MIN FY = 50 KSI (350 MPA) AND A UTS = 75 KSI (520 MPA) OR APPD EQ

HIGH STRENGTH ANCHOR RODS SHALL CONFORM AISI 2205 AND ASTM A276 HAVING A MIN FY = 95 KSI (655 MPA) AND A UTS = 125 KSI (860 MPA) OR APPD EQ

ANCHOR ROD WASHERS SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A240 AND NUTS SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A594 U/N

ALL ANCHOR RODS SHALL BE [3/4"| 19]%%C GRADE 50 U/N. NUTS AND WASHERS TO MATCH

ANCHOR RODS DENOTED AS [1"| 25]%%C OR LARGER SHALL BE HIGH STRENGTH (GRADE 95). NUTS AND WASHERS TO MATCH

Look for 2205, it is a duplex stainless and will give you superior strength and corrosion resistance.
