Hello all,
We've been having an issue recently with drawings, especially when printing. I realise there has been some discussion about this before, but I haven't found an answer to this particular problem.
Prints are coming out "low resolution", the print preview also has the problem. Normally you can select "high quality" from the radio button in the display style area on the left, but on these particular drawings, the high quality and draft quality radio buttons are greyed out.
It is happening with quite large assemblies containing many parts (over 1000), but it doesn't seem to be connected to having large assembly mode switched on, and it even happens when I resolve all components on my 64bit machine.
We are running 2009 SP2.0 and it is happening on different machines of varying spec, including mine, which is fairly high spec (8gb ram, 64bit, quad core...)

It sounds like the radio buttons you are referring to are for Cosmetic Thread Display, not the print quality.

Print quality is usually controlled by the printer. (File > Print > Properties)

Draft Quality view option was removed in 2008. If you select a Draft Quality view from an opened drawing as soon as it's set to high quality it can't be set back.

There is a System Options setting to create new views of a drawing as Draft Quality. Otherwise Draft Quality has been removed as a Property Manager option for Views.

OK, it's not the cosmetic thread display (check the attachment), and also it seems to be set to draft quality rather than high. Don't the radio buttons disappear when you select high quality?

I have my system options set to always create new views in high quality, but I'll check on the user who created this particular drawing I'm working on.

When printing, I ticked the box to convert draft quality views to high quality, but after hitting the print button, I get an error message saying that the views cannot be converted

That dialog is for on screen display, not printing. It depends on which display mode is being used. That distinction was introduced around 2003 IIRC.

One control that may affect both your printing and display is in TOOLS/OPTIONS/DOC PROPS/IMAGE QUALITY. There is a slider for line quality. That can effect how hard SW looks for lines to draw at the expense of graphic processing time.

There is also a check box in one of the dialogs that pops up when you go to print that allows you to request print quality.

Does anyone else have this dialog greyed out like that? I'm just trying to switch to high quality view.

The image quality slider doesn't seem to solve the problem

When I check the box on the print dialog to convert to high quality, I just get an error saying the views can not be converted
