Hiding Axis in wildfire 3

I just loaded Wildfire 3 and I'm having trouble hiding the Datum axis for certain features. They appear to be included in the sketch of the features now. Example I put in an Axis to revolve a feature around, then create the feature and then the axis seams to be part of the feature now and I can't find a way to hide axis. I never remember this happening before. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.

There are some small icons for planes, axis, points. Did you push them? Layers maybe?

There is a config options that you may already know about which can be helpful at some times but it sounds like in your case you may want to turn it off.

show_axes_for_extr_arcs No*/Yes

This option will create axes for any arcs this does not include conics only fillets, arcs and circles.

Here's an interesting conclusion I came to the other day when I was looking into this issue. Axis can be hidden by adding their parent features to your layer. I explain why further down in the post.

All revolved features in Pro/E used to create axes internal to the feature and you were forced to create the axis within the sketch and there was no way to keep it from creating A_1, A_2 etc. for co axial features of a part with a central axis.

Now since you can select the axis separate from the feature and use it during feature creation, you no longer need to create an axis internal to the feature. Just make sure you remember to not sketch the centerline which may be hard for you long term users.

You used to be able to create several centerlines and select the one to revolve around and keep the others as references. I wish there were a prompt to ask whether you wanted to convert any to axes or just keep them as references but regrettably if you sketch one another axis will be created.

Layers can be FUN in Pro/E if you’re good at speed reading or enjoy switching between associative and non-associative layer rules which I understand, but seems like a very annoying and useless option when most of the time you need to use both to accomplish. Okay I might have been lying about the fun part especially with all the Layers ProE uses by default and all the double or triple underscores and numbers in the names.

Since Pro/E cannot hide individual solid features like other CAD systems can you don’t have to monkey with all the search options that seem to have axis tags but not Axes. You can select the features to add to the layer and the layer will hide them but the features will still show because they are solid geometry.

There are options to look for axes by feature and filtering for features which contain axes but are not actually datums. The simple option is to just add all the features that contain axes to your axis layer or searching for and selecting all features and only the axes will get blanked when you hide the feature.

The show axes for extruded arcs option is not really good because it will create a lot of unnecessary axes. If you use internal sketches for your extrusions and want to create axes for certain extruded arcs it’s best to use the axis point option in your sketch and choose the arc centers that you want axes for.
