I am using an assembly that has over 500 parts. I do not need all of theos parts to show up in the bill of materials. I am hiding each item under the BOM contents button. My question, How do you hide more than one item at a time?

In the assembly....you select the items in the tree....right click and select component properties. There you can check "Exclude from BOM".

Do none of those 500 parts belong in a sub-assy? Do you have any sub-assys?

I do have some sub-assys and should have more. But we have three people on this one project and everyone works at it different. If I mark it "Exclude from BOM" then It will not show up in any drawings BOM. Still confused!!!

Yes...that option will prevent it from being included in any BOM you create from that assembly.

You can create configurations for different types of BOM’s and suppress what you do not want to show up in BOM.
