Hidden Lines & Solids

Is there a way to have the hidden lines in 3d solids object plot as a hidden line type?

A little more info: The hide command works; however, I do not have the shade view port option available in the plot dialog box. I can see the box I want; however, I cannot activate it. I can type hide on the command line before plotting and it will plot hidden lines the way I want. I would like to setup the drawing to always plot the viewport in paper space with the hidden lines setup as selected in the hlsettings. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi CRG,

Just modify the OBSCUREDCOLOR, and OBSCUREDLTYPE variables in your acad.dwt file (and any existing files you want changed) to reflect how you want hidden lines reflected. However, for every viewport you create, you'll need to set the hidden line removal option to "ON".

Have you run the SOLVIEW/SOLDRAW drill yet? While the ability to control hidden-style and color (as in the last post) is HUGE (!), SOLVIEW & SOLDRAW may provide you with a level of view control you hadn't anticipated.

For a clue on setting the hide-plot variable, the method I've used is to run the "mview" command, and set the "H" ("hide") option to "ON", and selecting the viewport of interest.

Anyone-
Is there another approach these days in addition to the "mview" command I mentioned in the previous paragraph, or is that it?
