Hi,

I am trying to calculate the von mises stress for a structure using hand calcualation to validate my FEA results. I don't know what I am doing wrong but the results are far apart. Am I using the right hand calculation method? I am sure the FEA results are accurate as I have verified them using three different models. The results in FEA model says that the maximum von mises stress is 22.9 MPa but the hann calculation is way beyond the yield limit.

Can't make any sense of your multiple diagrams and force directions.

--Einstein gave the same test to students every year. When asked why he would do something like that, "Because the answers had changed."
