Hi All, I am currently doing FEA Simulation of Random Vibration of the Wooden Crate by using PSD Curve data. Usually, in the case of steel material, we calculate the ‘3 σ Von-Mises Stress’ value & these values we will compare with the Endurance strength of the Material to comment on Pass-Fail. But, I don’t know how to predict Stresses from the Random Vibration Analysis in Wood Material as it is Orthographic Material which is having different strengths in different directions. Please guide me on this Random Analysis of the Wooden Crate. Is there any specific theory for Random Vibration of Orthotropic Material we need to use?

May I suggest to refer books on wood? Link

Also suggest to refer some research articles/experimental work on woods and try to do simple model first and after meaningful results you can apply it to your main problem.

Check the PhD thesis "Stochastic Dynamic Response of Wood Structural Systems" by G.C. Foliente. Some textbooks and codes written for civil engineers can also be useful. But the general approach will likely be similar to that for isotropic material.
