Can anybody tell me what hetergenous welding means please

I believe it is another description for welding of dissimilar materials.

I concur with metengr. If you will look into a materials dictionary, 'heterogeneous' means that the composition of a material can vary, as with composite materials; and as opposed to homogeneous. That is why you will see the term "heterogeneous welding" between duplex stainless steels or between dissimilar materials.
