The concrete lid on a prismatic underground water storage tank was cast without the added flexural and shear reinforcing I called for at the opening. If the deficient area of the lid is recast, I will have a new construction joint. I specify dumb bell water stop at joints typically, but they are always cast in fresh concrete. I have used Synco-Flex waterstop in keyways when the joint is horizontal (hardened concrete low, fresh concrete high), but I have never used it in vertical joints (fresh and hardened concrete side-by-side). The lid will be "waterproofed", but I don't want to omit addressing the joint. I would appreciate comments on your experience.
