Sep 19, 2003 #3 lgearhart Materials Joined Jan 31, 2002 Messages 66 Location US LGG, you can work harden 304, you can carburize it (see Bodycote's Kolsterizing process) and you can nitride it. The latter two are case hardening operations. You cannot heat treat 304, using a quench and temper process, to get it harder. Lee Upvote 0 Downvote
