Hi
I am trying to predict heat generated by friction in rotary seals using Abaqus. I have already completed the analysis however I am not sure whether I did it correctly.
I have modeled coupled-temperature displacement steps for the analysis. In the first step I have the assembly of the seal that created the frictional forces at the shaft-seal contact interface. The shaft is modeled as a analytical rigid body.I am using the contact stress (CPRESS) at the slave nodes at the interface to calculate the heat flux by the formula: Co-efficient of friction*CPRESS at a node*rotational speed of the shaft.
In the second step (transient coupled temp-disp step), I created thermal loads as a concentrated heat flux at the nodes. Main purpose here is to predict the temperatures at the interface due to friction. I am getting the temperatures at the interface and distribution across the seal but I am not sure whether these are correct as I do not have any physical test data to compare my results.
Could some one tell me if I am doing this correctly?
