Hi All,

I am trying to verify that the external piping arrangment for a plate heat exchanger train (pressure drop on each HEX is 0.2 bar) has been designed for a as-close-to constant velocity.

There are currently some elbows, bends, and reducers that add resistance and will of course increase pressure drop in the piping... I have Cranes technical paper as a reference.

What calculation method would be best to relate this pressure drop to velocity deviations in the piping, and to include the pressure drop on the heat exchangers? Bernoulli is providing me with strange results.

Thanks

Gbur,

fyi, your request has been discussed in many other postings within the "Pipelines, Piping and Fluid Mechanic's Engineering" Forum.

you may conduct a search within this website to aid you and try searching using "equivalent length" method. There may be a FAQ that addresses your specific question.

Crane TP-410 is an outstanding document to be used.

since this is your first posting, you need to be aware of this site capabilities and features available for users. take a moment and browse the site and hopefully you will find the site useful.

hope this helps!
