Does anybody have some examples about the vibration analysis of storage tanks with liquid inside by using ADINA? I am just a beginner using ADINA. I have no idea how to combind the tank model and liquid model together in vibration analysis.

Thank you.

First then I recommend that you check out papers and codes such as the following....

AWWA D100 and D110 and API 650. ACI 350 can also be helpful for concrete tanks. ACI 350 also covers parameters for rectangular tanks.

Papers authored by Housner, Wozniak and Mitchell, Veletsos and Yang and Haroun and Housner.

Please note that the above references are seismic codes and papers but one can easily see how to model the tank mechanically, check out hydrodynamic pressures (lateral and vertical) and periods in vertical and lateral modes.

Another good souce is Jaiswal and Rai.

Speaking of which...is there anywhere to download (or even order) the Veletsos paper? Or specifically, the fundamental frequency analysis contained therein?

You could check out anyone of a number of reliable earthquake engineering sites such as:

MCEER, EERI, CUREE, and the database at Earthquake Engineering Research Center (UC Berkeley).

Q, that first source had it. I had spent some google time a while back and never could pull it up anywhere. Thanks!
