Handling Assemblies in Pro Mechanica 2

Hi!
I am currently doing a modal vibration on an assembly consisting of an inducer facecover(pbt),inducer motor and and inducer wheel with insert.I ran the modal analysis on each of the part first to see if it works and then I put all of them together.The parts ran separately but the assembly is not working!! When I run the assembly, it ran but few of the features of the cover couldnot be seen in the results window.
Is there something to look up to help with the assembly?
I have never worked on an assembly and this is my first time and I would certainly appreciate any help that I can get.

I am not sure what kind of analysis you are trying to do, but I try and avoid assemblies in Pro/Mech. I typically create a simplified part from scratch that roughly represents the assembly geometry and analyze that.

I checked the PTC Knowledge Base for help. Look under the Support Tools heading on:

http://www.ptc.com/support/support.htm.

I got several hits by searching under MECHANICA Structure with the keyword "assembly".

Note: You need to be a maintenance paying customer to access this information.

There may be some helpful resources found by searching through the resources listed in the FAQ PTC Pro/ENGINEER internet resources (FAQ554-468) as well.

Images and other files can not be served via the eng-tips site. You must serve them from another site. You can use the TGML syntax to link the images into your post once you have a URL.

The ProECentral website does offer a upload facility. You may want to make a post there and then link in your images here as well.

Some times if the interface between two features are very close together, pro mechanica sees it as one feature. Think of it as the two pieces have been fused together and move as one. Maybe your cover is close to something and got “fused” to another part of the housing. If this is true, then you would see that one part of the cover would not move like the way you would think in the first mode.

Just an observation.

Hi Everyone,
All of your tips have been very helpful and I appreciate it.
But my problem still persist.
I have this solid model,which I have been trying to mesh ( I have been able to work on the sub assembly but not on the whole assembly) and in windows system, I have been hitting the 2-GB memory limit.So I had gone to Unix m/c hoping that it would solve my problem, but now I got a memory error( requesting 72 MB additional memory but did not get it....) message while running the sub assembly.
Also, this model is not symmetrical, as such I can't take a part of it and run it.I am getting around 24806 solid elements for the subassembly and when I tried to mesh the whole assembly in stand alone version, it is giving me a partial elements of 27800 approx.It says it is 99% meshed.How good is this mesh? I can see very small area where it is not meshed.
How can I get around the memory issues both in windows and Unix?
I can give you the system configuration if somebody can help me with this.
