hair pin Vs S&T

what is the criteria for selecting a hair pin heat exchanger over shell and tube heat exchanger and vice versa. Is a shell and tube more effective than a hairpin? What is the advantage of hairpin ove S&T?

hair pin is for very low flowrates and specially good when the temperature crossing is significant.
